Solution engineering brief

Battery Fire & Pack Protection Components

Large-format shields, seals and vent-position components integrated around defined pack fire and gas-release scenarios.

Representative converted component. Final construction, material grade and performance requirements are made to the customer drawing and validated application conditions.

The engineering problem

Start with the installed interface.

Internal propagation, external fire exposure and emergency venting are different events. Each requires its own geometry, exposure profile and acceptance criteria.

We convert layered shields, insulation, sealing and vent-path components while keeping material-level data separate from complete-pack performance.

Position and function

Where this component works—and what it must do

  • Module-to-module partition
  • Pack lid and underbody shield
  • Enclosure seam
  • Vent outlet and flame path
  • ESS rack and container interface
  • Delay heat and flame transfer
  • Protect adjacent surfaces
  • Maintain sealing in normal service
  • Support a controlled vent path during an event

Selection logic

Decision data customers and engineers expect

Decision dimensionWhat must be defined
ScenarioSeparate external fire, internal cell event, vent-jet impingement and normal environmental sealing.
ExposureState temperature or heat flux, duration, pressure, flow and orientation.
ConstructionDefine stack, mass per area, seams, fasteners, penetrations and compressed condition.
System testValidate the installed shield, seal or vent component in the target pack or ESS configuration.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before sampling

Is a flame rating enough for a pack fire shield?

No. Small-scale material classification does not describe transient heat, erosion, seams or installed assembly behavior.

Does an IP rating define vent performance?

No. Ingress protection addresses dust and water at enclosure level; emergency gas flow and opening behavior require separate data.

Can VOLTFEND supply large-format converted shields?

We can review size, stack, joining, fastening and converting feasibility. Final capability depends on material form and drawing.
